UFCW Endorses Josh Turek for U.S. Senate in Iowa

Three Iowa UFCW Locals and International Union Endorse Turek as the Right Choice for Working Iowans

DES MOINES, Iowa – Today, the United Food and Commercial Workers (UFCW) Locals 222IN, 431, 1846, and the UFCW International Union, which represent tens of thousands of essential workers across Iowa, released a statement endorsing Iowa State Representative Josh Turek (D-20) for U.S. Senate.

“We are excited to endorse Josh Turek to be the next U.S. Senator from Iowa,” said UFCW Local 222IN President Leo Kanne. “We know Josh will put Iowans first, as he has done in the Iowa Statehouse, because he’s a leader who understands the priorities and needs of working people. As gas prices and diesel costs continue to rise, Iowa cannot afford any more of the status quo.”

“We know Josh Turek will be a great U.S. Senator for Iowa,” said UFCW Local 431 President Simplice Kuelo. “Josh has sponsored legislation to raise the minimum wage and make it easier for workers to join a union in Iowa. That kind of leadership is what Iowa’s workers and UFCW members in our state deserve. The UFCW is committed to sending Josh to Washington this November.”

“Josh Turek is the right leader at this moment for Iowa in the U.S. Senate,” said UFCW Local 1846 President Brian Ulin. “Representative Ashley Hinson has spent more time enriching herself and her family than fighting back against the policies and decisions that hurt our state. Her support for cuts to Medicaid and SNAP, as well as this disastrous trade war, puts the jobs, health, and stability of thousands of Iowans at risk. Josh Turek will fight for working people, and we are excited to support him.”

The UFCW strongly endorses Iowa State Representative Josh Turek over U.S. Representative Ashley Hinson in the U.S. Senate race. Contactpress@ufcw.org for any media requests.
